For Stephen Paul, every D.D.R. song starts with a story.
The Indiana-based songwriter and novelist brings that approach to “Never Forever”, an 80s-inspired melodic rock anthem about realizing that not everything described as “forever” actually lasts forever.
The track combines soaring guitars, big rock melodies, and cinematic storytelling, drawing from the sound of classic arena rock while giving the song a more personal and modern perspective.
At the center of Paul’s writing is what he describes as “universal specificity” — the idea of telling a very specific story or emotion in a way that allows listeners to recognize something of their own experience in it.
