“The Flower Song” is the latest release from H.UI 惠, pronounced “Who-ey,” a bilingual singer-songwriter and composer whose music brings together neoclassical piano, layered vocals, and dark pop.
The song takes the familiar “roses are red, violets are blue” rhyme and gives it a much darker meaning. It starts softly, almost like a traditional love song, but gradually becomes more unsettling as the story moves from affection to resentment.
