KORIA GR

born in portugal

Côte d’Ivoire is KORIA GR’s second release and a particularly important one. The track reached #32 on the Traxsource Afro House Top 100, showing a strong connection with listeners who appreciate genuine, authentic sound.

The heart of the song lies in its percussion. Recorded live at Torpedo Productions Studio in Paris, a percussionist from the Ivory Coast performed traditional rhythms from his homeland. This is where the track’s name comes from — a respectful nod to its cultural roots.

The release comes via Aafro Madiba Records, a label that supports music deeply connected to African heritage and Afro House culture.

The person behind this is Nikos Koriatopoulos, also known as KORIA GR, a DJ and producer with almost 30 years in electronic music, in Greece and around Europe. He started in the mid-90s with the Greek electronic band Total Chaos, releasing LPs and singles.

KORIA GR

In 1999, he moved to the Netherlands and co-founded Galactika, playing shows in the Netherlands, Belgium, and France. Around 2003, he started his solo project Q-bik, putting out EPs and remixes with Next Dimension Music. Later, in 2009, he made Nsquared, a live act with DJs, singers, and musicians, that put out an EP. KORIA GR is the most refined stage: a project focused on deep house and lounge, where experience, rhythm, and respect for musical roots are clear in every track. “Côte d’Ivoire” isn't trying to be fancy; it speaks through its vibe, culture, and careful listening.
