For Einar Askelsson, songwriting began as a way to get through difficult mornings. More than a decade later, that personal discovery has become the foundation of New Sunday, a studio project built around honest lyrics, carefully crafted melodies and stories drawn from real life.
The project's fourth single, “Here I Am Meant To Be,” released on September 14, 2026, continues a musical journey that began long before New Sunday took shape. Following “Echoes In The Dark” and “The Empty Street,” the track builds on the sound Einar has been developing while remaining true to his approach: the story comes first, and the music follows.

Around twelve years ago, Einar was struggling with the effects of complex post-traumatic stress disorder (CPTSD). The symptoms left him exhausted, and recovery was a long process. During that time, his therapist encouraged him to find something that could help him manage the anxiety he experienced each morning.
He had a guitar and knew a few chords. Almost instinctively, he began playing after waking up. He soon noticed that those early morning sessions helped him feel calmer. What started as a small part of his recovery gradually became a daily practice.
Writing poetry had already given Einar a way to put difficult thoughts and emotions into words. Before long, he began using those poems as inspiration for songs. Music became another way to tell stories that might otherwise have remained on the page.
Over the years, he developed his guitar skills and learned more about music theory. Songwriting eventually became his main creative pursuit, even though he never wanted to become a conventional performing artist or build a band around live shows.
That vision explains how New Sunday works. Einar writes the lyrics and music before developing the arrangements himself using Hookpad, a platform that allows him to work with chord progressions, melodies, tempo and instrumentation. He builds each section of a song individually, creating an instrumental version before bringing in vocalist Lizzie and producer Simon.
From there, the three work together to refine the arrangement and shape the final recording. It's a collaborative process, but the original story remains the starting point for every song.
Einar believes in keeping things simple enough for a melody to speak for itself. Rather than adding elements simply because they are available, he looks for arrangements that support the lyrics and allow the emotion behind them to come through.
With “Here I Am Meant To Be,” that philosophy continues to guide New Sunday. The project represents a songwriter who found his way into music through an unexpected experience and gradually built a creative practice around it.
There is no conventional rock-star story here, nor a carefully planned journey toward the stage. Instead, New Sunday is the result of twelve years of learning, writing and discovering what music can mean to someone who needs it.
Sometimes, a creative pursuit begins without any ambition beyond getting through the day. You pick up an instrument, write a few lines or follow an idea simply because it helps. Then, little by little, it becomes part of who you are.
For Einar Askelsson, that is where songwriting began. New Sunday is what grew from it.
